The beauty of the little details

The beauty of the little details

A few weeks ago, I had the privilege of planning one of the most meaningful gatherings I've ever hosted: my Mother's Celebration of Life.

As anyone who has walked through loss knows, there is a delicate balance between grief and gratitude. I wanted the day to honor who she was, but I also wanted it to feel beautiful, warm and full of joy. My Mom loved flowers. She painted flowers, planted flowers, admired flowers and always loved to receive a bright beautiful arrangement that smelled as lovely as they looked! She loved wildflowers in particular, the way they weren't uniform or ordinary, they were different, bright and unique. A lot like her, actually.

As I began planning her celebration, I kept coming back to that image. Wildflowers.

I chose a palette of soft pinks, creams, and vibrant blooms. Tables were filled with peonies, hydrangea and wildflowers. Photos of my Mom throughout her life, along with family photos sat among candles and flowers on crisp bright linens that felt like Spring and Summer all in one, and guests took home wildflower seeds as a small reminder of her life and the beauty she left behind.

What surprised me most was how many people commented on the details.

Throughout the afternoon, guests would stop and tell me how special everything felt. They noticed that the photos, the flowers, the memory table, the napkins, the cupcakes that looked like wildflower bouquets- every small little touch made the gathering feel personal and intimate.

It reminded me of something I have believed for a very long time: details matter.

Not because they have to be elaborate or expensive, but because they tell a story. They communicate love. They make people feel welcomed, remembered and celebrated.

For years, I have had the honor of creating personalized napkins and party details for weddings, baby showers, birthdays, graduations, and every other kind of celebration in between. But standing in my own backyard, surrounded by family and friends who had come to honor my mother, I was reminded that these products are personal to me, too.

Every order represents a milestone. A gathering. A memory in the making.

The wildflower napkins I created for my Mom's Celebration of Life will always be among my favorites because of what they represent. A beautiful afternoon filled with stories, laughter, tears and love.

And proof that sometimes the smallest details become the memories we hold onto the longest.
